This is a very special opportunity to take professional quality photographs of your children for a fraction of the cost involved in having similar pictures taken by an expensive studio photography company.
Digital Photography Courses have teamed up with The Studio 17 to allow you to use your camera and their pro photographic studio and lighting.
You will receive expert tuition in setting your camera for the best results and any images you take are yours to keep and print yourself at your minimum cost.
During this Studio Photography Course you will learn how to:
- Shoot a family portrait using a professional studio
- Select your favourite image for printing
- Correct images in Photoshop for a clean white background
- Crop images for a range of print sizes
The sitting includes a free 8in x 6in print, of your choice, on the day, and other pictures or sizes can be purchased separately and collected or posted later if required.
You will still have all your images on your memory card which you can make into a DVD slide show or print at home or at a commercial printers. |

This month’s project:
Create a Flower Collage using Picasa

Anyone who has been on one of our photography courses knows what a great fan I am of the free Picasa photo-editing program. One of it's lesser known tricks is it's ability to make fantastic collages with just a few clicks. To create a collage like the one opposite: |
.. |
How to Create a Flower Collage using Picasa
- Photograph each flower with a piece of black cloth behind to give a deep black background.
- Select your favourite pictures and cropped each shot as a square image using the crop tool set to CD Cover.
- On the Tuning Tab slide the Shadows slider to the right until the dark areas go fully black.
- Do this with each picture until you have enough for several rows.
- Depending on how big you want your print you could go for 4,6,9 or 12 images. I used 12 images on a 24" x 16" canvas.
- Select your 4,6,9 or 12 corrected images by marking them as favourite using the Gold Star button.
- Click the collage button and use Mosaic or Grid from the drop down menu to see which looks best.
- You can also choose to add some grid spacing and a black background if your images need some extra space.
- Once created use the crop tool again to size the image to the correct size for printing.
- I had a 24" x 16" canvas printed at www.snapmad.com for £20 which looks great.
If you do get a great picture then please upload it to our Facebook page. |
We now have a Digital Photography Courses Facebook Group where students can add photographs for other students to view and comment on.
