This is a very special opportunity to take professional quality photographs of your children for a fraction of the cost involved in having similar pictures taken by an expensive studio photography company.
Digital Photography Courses have teamed up with The Studio 17 to allow you to use your camera and their pro photographic studio and lighting.
You will receive expert tuition in setting your camera for the best results and any images you take are yours to keep and print yourself at your minimum cost.
During this Studio Photography Course you will learn how to:
- Shoot a family portrait using a professional studio
- Select your favourite image for printing
- Correct images in Photoshop for a clean white background
- Crop images for a range of print sizes
The sitting includes a free 8in x 6in print, of your choice, on the day, and other pictures or sizes can be purchased separately and collected or posted later if required.
You will still have all your images on your memory card which you can make into a DVD slide show or print at home or at a commercial printers. |
Camera Courses & Dates
|
 |
This course starts with a very quick recap on the basic settings and progresses, step by step, through to some of the more technical aspects. Each camera operation or photography lesson is followed by a demonstration then a practical session. This course includes about twice the hands on practical photography time of the beginner's course.
Learn to use your camera on Full Manual Control
We will be mainly using the camera on the full manual setting so you gain a really good understanding of how the various aperture and shutter speed combinations effect your picture and how to visualise the picture before you take the shot.
After the camera and outdoor practical photography sessions we review the images and offer constructive feedback. This is followed by photo-editing tutorial where we will show you how to get the very best from your your photographs.

This month’s project: Animal Magic
Produce a high contrast Black & White photograph of an animal in Picasa (or Photoshop)and upload it to the Digital Photography Courses Facebook Group.
This months exercise was inspired by Mark Lewis's Safari Park picture of a Zebra. The originals were taken in colour but it prompted me to produce this months project.
Anyone who has been on one of our photography courses knows what a great fan I am of the free Picasa photo-editing program. One of the things it does very well is convert image to monochrome.
- Select a picture for editing
- choose the "Effects" tab and click "B&W"
- Now choose the "Tuning" tab to increase contrast
- Move the Shadow slider to darken the blacks
- Move the Highlight slider to brighten the whites
- Use the "Fill" slider to lighten the midtones
- Click the "Export" button
- Resize the image to 800 pixels
- Select the quality at Automatic
- Add a title or watermack
- Save it on the desktop so you can find it.
- Join the Facebook group and upload the picture

Please can you thank your wife for the splendid grub - should have said my thank you's yesterday but my head was full of new knowledge and I forgot - most rude. Pictures by Ali Blackmore - Note from Glen *not rude at all- pleased you enjoyed the course and the food. We aim to please ;-)
Almost too much content! However and I hope to use this bridge camera to its full potential now which is just what I wanted. I suspect I might be buying a DSLR before long. Mary Tyler
